Handicrafts for sale

During their stay in Yellow Gumpa as a refugees, the women of Langtang spended their time in knitting and creating handicrafts to sell outside the Nepal. We bought wool and handed out among 48 women who wanted to work knitting beautiful hats, scarves and vests…

They spend most of their time in tents with the burning heat and the heavy rain of monsoon. They are hard working women who had always had their task and during this period where they had to pass the days away from thier homes and in a very difficult conditions and after going through all those tragedies, the handcraft work helped them in engaging something which provided them with salaries. These little economy they used in buying small daily needs and recuperate a very small part of their life.

Now, almost all the women have returned to work in the mountain. They might stay in the mountain until and unless the snowfall forces them to return back to Kathmandu during winter.But some of them are still knitting and offering the handicrafts to contribute to the economy of the family. If you are interested in some crafts you can contact us and we will put you in touch with these ladies. And if you wish to order something in particular, the women of Langtang might feel very special to offer their items to you.
